The Light Within

In a time of political unrest and looming war, the country of Sweazn is drowning in trauma, pain, and suffering. Eira Karlson and her friends are weighed down on the front lines, working tirelessly in therapeutic and investigative roles. Though all are nearly pushed to their limits, Eira and her friends keep each other afloat with love and laughter.

Beyond Sweazn, through a thin veil of time and space, the realm of souls faces its own peril. A plague of darkness spreads rapidly, and Prince Nyx knows too well the agony and exile it brings. Eira's recurring dreams and lost memories drag her into Majikaero, a magical realm of souls. Here, she encounters new allies and foes, including Nyx, the deviously alluring shadow prince who Eira can't help but feel irrevocably drawn to.

Eira learns she once thrived in Majikaero, her soul radiant with healing power. Now, confronted with the mysteries of her origins, the plight of her damaged friends, and the encroaching darkness, she must summon the strength and magic to protect both realms.

Eira must face the trauma of her past and find the one thing that can save those she loves: the light within.

The Light Within is book one of a thrilling new adult fantasy romance series that is centered around themes of mental health and healing.

ABOUT

Carliann Jean has always loved reading, writing, and throwing herself into anything creative. Her path took a turn into the fields of education and social work, where she thrived in the classroom and as a school social worker.

She has a passion for helping those impacted by trauma and mental health issues, and in general, she loves to build deep, healing connections. While Carliann adores her current work as a licensed clinical social worker in private practice, she wants to fuse her mental health specialization with one of her favorite things: fiction stories.

She currently writes fantasy romance that focuses on mental health, trauma, and darker themes. Her goal is multi-purposed. Carliann wants to continue aiding those who have experienced trauma and mental health issues through the art of storytelling. She also wants to bring readers the joy, laughter, tears, and many other feelings experienced from immersing yourself in a character's life.

When Carliann is not writing, she thoroughly enjoys spending time with her husband and pet children, reading more books than she has room for, spending time outdoors, traveling and exploring, stress baking with music, and laughing with her loved ones. She’\'s an Illinois native who felt drawn to the West. If you can't find her cuddled up with her feisty two cats and excitable pup, you'll see her hiking in the mountains or at one of the local shops with a new treat and shaken espresso.
